On Feb. 18, 2007 30,000 runners from around the world ran in the Inaugural Tokyo Marathon, and Alice was one of them!
There are tons of races everywhere open to anybody in Japan, but this is the FIRST mass-entry city marathon in Japan that compares with the standard-setters like NYC, Boston, Chicago, etc. Nearly 100,000 people applied for 30,000 slots that were then chosen by lottery, so it was an honor to be chosen for this historic event. Even though it was 40 degrees and raining the whole race, it was an experience that Alice will never forget!
